Short answer
A thermoplastic hydraulic hose is a hose family in which a thermoplastic inner tube and outer cover are combined with suitable reinforcement. Selection is made not only on the basis of light weight or outside diameter, but by evaluating the fluid, temperature, impulse, bending and the manufacturer's fitting system together.
Technical explanation
The inner tube contacts the fluid; the reinforcement contributes to carrying the pressure load; the outer cover provides protection against environmental effects. This division of roles does not mean that the material is suitable for all chemicals. Thermoplastic products with textile and metal reinforcement may exist; electrical properties cannot be inferred from this family name. The impulse or bending performance of one model should not be transferred to another model. Manufacturer data is read for the model, diameter and fitting combination.
Topic-specific checkpoints
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Inner tube | Compatibility with the fluid and cleaning agent |
| Reinforcement | Pressure, impulse and motion conditions |
| Cover | Abrasion, environment and electrical properties |
| Fitting | Assembly system verified with the hose |
How is it assessed in practice?
In the request for quotation, gather the full name of the oil to be used, the line temperature, the moving route and both end fittings on the same page. For example, a hose that fits into a narrow machine channel is not a good alternative if it does not maintain the permissible radius throughout the motion. First compare the mechanical layout, then the verified assembly combination. Do not use the cover color as evidence of the pressure or electrical class. In the purchasing comparison, also record which product codes the conformity document covers.

Frequently asked questions
Is a thermoplastic hose a direct alternative to a rubber hose?
No. The same inside diameter or nominal pressure alone does not establish equivalence; the application conditions and the assembly system must be compared together.
