Short answer
In textile reinforced hydraulic hoses, the load-bearing structure may consist of suitable fibers instead of metal wire. The pressures and fluids it is used with are determined per series. The term textile reinforcement is not a certificate of electrical insulation, low pressure or suitability for all hydraulic services.

Technical explanation
The reinforcement material is only one component of the hose. The materials of the inner tube and outer cover, the fiber construction and the end connection together determine the product's performance. There are different textile reinforced hydraulic and thermoplastic families; their operating conditions cannot be combined under a single heading. Likewise, the absence of metal wire does not show that the electrical properties of the assembly have been measured or that it is suitable for a specific insulating application. The required electrical behavior must be defined separately.

Topic-specific checkpoints
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Reinforcement | Fiber type and the structural description of the product family. |
| Service limit | Pressure/temperature/fluid data for the model and size. |
| Electrical property | A separate test and product declaration, if required. |
| End assembly | A verified connection system suitable for the textile construction. |

How is it assessed in practice?
If the request has a goal such as 'lightweight hose', separate it from the weight, installation and pressure requirements. For example, low weight may be important for a tool carried by an operator; however, the fitting body, kinking and external abrasion conditions should also be included in the assessment. Ask the supplier which model is recommended for which fluid and temperature. Do not store a product family description as if it were a suitability record for a specific hose assembly. If the electrical duty or hydraulic service has not been explicitly verified, do not decide on use by looking only at the reinforcement material.
Original editorial recommendation; not a clause of a standard.
Frequently asked questions
Is a hose without metal wire safe for electrical work?
This conclusion cannot be drawn. Electrical insulation is a special performance requirement. Approval for use should not be given without an explicit declaration for the relevant application and the necessary checks.
