SAE, EN and ISO references belong to different standards systems. The fact that they describe a similar hose construction does not mean that all dimensional, test and performance conditions are equivalent; comparison must be made on the basis of the full code, edition and product class.

SAE J517 provides scope relating to hydraulic hoses, and ISO 1436 to wire-braid-reinforced rubber hydraulic hoses. Public DIN records show 2026 editions for EN 853, EN 856 and EN 857. Editions cited in old catalogs must not be confused with current records. The same product can be declared to more than one standard; the basis for this is the manufacturer's document for the specific product and size, not a generic cross-reference table.
