Short answer
The pressure and temperature limits of a PTFE assembly cannot be derived solely from the general properties of the PTFE polymer. The inner tube, reinforcement, end fitting, seal and the manufacturer's temperature-dependent performance data must be evaluated together.
Technical explanation
The fact that a hose family includes options suitable for high temperatures does not mean that all models will operate at the same pressure. Manufacturer tables may vary by diameter, temperature and series. The fitting and seal may be more limiting; chemical effects and dynamic use can create additional conditions. If the maximum temperature and maximum pressure are given for different conditions, it is not correct to treat them as applicable at the same time. Test pressure does not replace working pressure either.
Topic-specific checkpoints
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Series and diameter | Use of the same table row |
| Temperature | Operating and cleaning conditions |
| Pressure | Permissible value together with temperature |
| End and seal | Components limiting the assembly |
How is it assessed in practice?
In the purchasing comparison, write the actual operating point, not just two maximum figures. For example, normal temperature, a short cleaning cycle and pressure remaining during standstill should be separate lines. Do not produce a safe value by linear interpolation for a temperature not on the manufacturer's curve. When the end type is changed, query the assembly limit again. The final document must define the entire assembly to be delivered, not the hose body.
Original editorial recommendation; not a clause of a standard.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use the general temperature limit of PTFE as the hose label?
No. Label information must be based on verified manufacturer and assembly data for the finished product.
