Short answer
Test pressure and hold time are not determined by a single factor picked from the internet. They are defined by an authorized technical person after reviewing together the applicable edition of the relevant product and test standard, the manufacturer's assembly instructions and the purchase specification.
Technical explanation
ISO 1402 covers hydrostatic test methods, while ISO 7751 addresses the ratios of proof and burst pressure to working pressure. These different scopes do not show that all hoses can be tested with the same factor under all conditions. Rubber, plastic, metal and composite assemblies must not be automatically placed in the same test scope. The test medium and measurement conditions are also evaluated together with the result.
Topic-specific checkpoints
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Product | Material, assembly type and scope |
| Basis | Product standard and manufacturer instructions |
| Target | Pressure, duration, medium and acceptance criterion |
| Conflict | Documented technical assessment |
How to evaluate it in practice
On the work order, separate the working pressure from the test pressure field. Write the source document and clause next to the target value; do not add a clause of a standard that has not been read as if it existed. If two documents conflict, do not allow the operator to choose the higher one; open a technical resolution record. No application procedure for pressurizing the test in the field is given here. This operation requires a guarded test setup and trained, authorized personnel.
Original editorial recommendation; not a clause of a standard.
Frequently asked questions
Is twice the working pressure always the correct test pressure?
No. The factor and other conditions must be verified from the relevant product, method and contract scope.
