Short answer
A hydrostatic test report must link the result to a specific hose assembly and a defined test method. The statement ‘tested’ alone is not a sufficient technical explanation, because it does not show the test conditions, the measurement system used or the basis of the acceptance decision.
Technical explanation
ISO 1402 covers hydrostatic test methods for rubber and plastics hoses and hose assemblies. The scope of a test method does not mean that every product will be tested at the same pressure or for the same duration. The conditions to be applied are determined together with the product standard, the manufacturer's instructions and the order requirements. Whether the report belongs to a sample or to the physical assembly delivered must also be explained.
Topic-specific checkpoints
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Identification | Serial number, assembly revision, test date |
| Method | Document code and edition applied |
| Measurement | Actual values, units, instrument identification |
| Decision | Observation, acceptance criterion, authorized assessment |
How to evaluate it in practice
In the report template, create separate fields for the assembly serial number, component codes, length and connections. Record the method and revision, the target conditions, the actual measurements, the instrument identification and the observations. Link the acceptance decision to the authorized person. When there is a retest or correction, create a new revision instead of deleting the previous result. These fields are a proposed record layout; they do not replace the mandatory report fields in the contract or in the full text of the standard.
Original editorial recommendation; not a clause of a standard.
Frequently asked questions
Can a single test report be used for an entire batch?
Sample-based testing and individual testing are different. The products covered by the report and the sampling basis must be clearly stated.
