Short answer
Antistatic PTFE is not considered to have the same electrical properties as an ordinary PTFE inner tube. The required electrical behavior must be clearly defined in the product code and manufacturer data, and verified together with the end fittings of the finished assembly and the test method.
Technical explanation
Within the PTFE hose family, manufacturers may offer different inner tube options for electrical requirements. The presence of an outer metal braid does not show that the surface in contact with the fluid has the required electrical property. Electrical continuity and resistance measurement methods are dealt with within the scope of the relevant standard and product instructions. The material name, color or a single resistance measurement does not determine overall suitability for explosive atmospheres; a process risk assessment is also required.

How is it assessed in practice?
When creating a request for flammable solvent transfer, complete the term 'PTFE hose' with the electrical requirement. Clarify with the manufacturer which property is required on which surface or path. For the check to be performed after assembly, specify in writing the measurement point, instrument and basis for acceptance. Do not put the chemical compatibility response in the same box as the electrical suitability response. If the fluid or cleaning agent changes in the application, re-evaluate the validity of the existing selection.

Frequently asked questions
Is metal-braided PTFE automatically antistatic?
No. The electrical properties of the inner tube and the finished assembly must be verified separately.
