Short answer
In an abrasive material hose, the inner tube, particle type, grain size, conveying velocity and routing are assessed together. A thick inner tube on its own is not a guarantee of long life. Bends, flow restrictions and electrical requirements are also within the scope of selection.

Technical explanation
In flows carrying solid particles, the load the hose sees cannot be understood from the chemical name of the fluid alone. The abrasiveness, size and density of the material, and whether it is conveyed dry or wet, create different requirements. The manufacturer's abrasion resistance statement is based on specific material and test conditions. It is not correct to carry the results of a sand, granule or cement application directly over to another material. If there is a static electricity requirement, it is a verification topic separate from the hose material.

Topic-specific checkpoints
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Material | Type, grain distribution, dry/wet state and abrasiveness. |
| Flow | Flow rate or conveying condition; source of the measurement. |
| Routing | Turns, restrictions and support points. |
| Additional requirements | Electrical property, chemical compatibility and external abrasion. |

How is it assessed in practice?
In an abrasion investigation, record the relationship of the damage not only to total operating hours but also to the conveyed material and the routing. For example, if there is no problem on the straight section of the same product but thinning is seen at a turn, the flow direction and support arrangement should also be examined instead of only increasing the wall thickness. Attach a material sample or reliable grain distribution information to the request. Do not accept an unmeasured conveying velocity as certain and calculate product life from it.

Frequently asked questions
Is the thickest inner tube always the best choice?
No. The application, material properties, flexibility and connection system are assessed together. Thickness on its own is not a life estimate or a suitability approval.
