Technical explanation
The STAMPED approach addresses size, temperature, application, media conveyed, pressure, ends and delivery requirements together. Turning these headings into a form helps prevent different people from interpreting the same order differently. The form is not a product selection algorithm: the information it collects is later compared with manufacturer data and assembly requirements. Because a chemical's trade name in particular may differ from its actual composition, supporting documents such as the safety data sheet should also be linked.

How is it assessed in practice?
In the form we recommend, each critical field is accompanied by 'information source' and 'confirmation status'. If the buyer does not know the pressure, the system should not automatically write the previous order value into the verified field. The previous order is shown as a suggestion; the process owner confirms it. The revision of the same form is linked to the technical quotation and the production order. This way, if a change is made later, it can be traced back which quotation was based on which inputs.

Can no quotation be given until all fields are filled?
A preliminary commercial quotation can be given; however, missing technical inputs and suitabilities that remain conditional must be stated explicitly. A preliminary price study should not be used as a completed technical specification for production.
