Short answer
In cryogenic applications, it is not enough to select an inner tube that withstands low temperatures. Connections, seals, movement, thermal change and the integrity of the assembly must be evaluated together; catalog values at room temperature cannot be used directly.
Technical explanation
Hose selection guides require temperature and motion conditions to be matched with product limits. The handling and routing rules for flexible metal hoses also affect performance. The material and assembly suitability of a specific product to be used at very low temperatures must be verified with the manufacturer. General hose information does not replace the pressure relief, insulation or gas safety design of a cryogenic system; these fall within the remit of competent experts.
Topic-specific checkpoints
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Fluid | Phase and temperature transitions |
| Assembly | Coverage of body, connection and seal |
| Motion | Thermal change and mechanical loads |
| Evidence | Product- and application-specific verification |
How to evaluate it in practice
Add the phase of the fluid, temperature transitions, pressure, movement and environmental conditions to the technical request. Have the person responsible for design evaluate how length and connection loads will be managed during thermal change. Check that the supplier covers not only the hose body but also the end connections and seals. Handling, commissioning and decommissioning procedures must be consistent with the product documentation. Do not use field trials with an assembly whose suitability has not been verified as a selection method.
