Short answer
When selecting a composite hose for chemical and fuel transfer, a 'chemical hose' or 'fuel hose' label alone is not sufficient. The composition of the fluid, layer and wire materials, cleaning condition, pressure and electrical requirements must be matched.
Technical explanation
The composite hose manufacturer evaluates suitability using inputs such as the chemical environment, cleaning and mechanical support in addition to working pressure and temperature. Components in fuel blends or the cleaning fluid can change a selection made on the basis of the original fluid name. Suitability is checked separately for the inner layer, wire and seal. An electrical continuity value or test interval for one product should not be generalized to different composite series.

How is it assessed in practice?
For a tanker loading line, write the normal product, residue of the previous cargo and the washing fluid as separate exposures. The selection form should include whether the hose is dragged on the ground, lifted by crane or exposed to vessel motion. Match the suitability response to the actual series, diameter and fitting. Do not treat a positive mark in a chemical resistance table alone as order approval; ask for a supplier assessment for the completed assembly and the application conditions.
Original editorial recommendation; not a clause of a standard.
Frequently asked questions
Can the same composite hose be used with every fuel blend?
No. The blend, additives, temperature and cleaning conditions must be verified for the actual product.
