Short answer
A refinery hose inventory must track fluid hazards and operating conditions together with the physical assembly identification. The same stock code can carry different risks in different units; selection and maintenance decisions must not be based solely on the name of the hose family.
Technical explanation
In hose selection, pressure, temperature, fluid, environment and connection conditions are evaluated together. In applications with hazardous fluids or hot processes, the consequences of failure also become important. A chemical resistance chart, electrical properties and pressure information are different inspection topics. Suitability in one does not automatically ensure the others. A general guide does not replace the facility's engineering and occupational safety procedures.
Topic-specific checkpoints
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Location | Unit, line and equipment |
| Conditions | Fluid, temperature, pressure and transient states |
| Assembly | Serial number, components and documents |
| Maintenance | Criticality, last inspection and open actions |
How to evaluate it in practice
The proposed inventory contains the unit, line, equipment, assembly serial number and a description of duty. Separate normal operation from commissioning, draining and cleaning conditions. Link inspection reports and open actions to the assembly. Set up identification that prevents unauthorized relocation or use on the wrong line. Prioritize by criticality; however, do not use a numerical risk score on its own as permission for use. Check separately that spare assemblies conform to the current revision.

Frequently asked questions
Is every hose used in a refinery subject to the same documentation?
No. The product, application, facility requirements and applicable regulations are evaluated together.
