Short answer
The cleaning method must be suitable for the hose and must also meet the requirements of the next product to be conveyed. Removing visible dirt does not on its own prove that the risk of cross-contamination has been eliminated. A decision on shared use is made with chemical compatibility and a verified cleaning approach.
Technical explanation
When a hose is cleaned, the inner tube, seals and connections are exposed to the cleaning agent, temperature and duration. Suitability for the production fluid does not mean suitability for the cleaning cycle. In hygienic applications, surfaces, connection gaps and the drainage arrangement are important. The name of a cleaning agent or an observation of no odor does not show that all residues have been removed. Product and facility procedures must be addressed together with the verification requirements.
Topic-specific checkpoints
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Previous/next product | Order of use with respect to incompatibility and contamination. |
| Cycle | Agent, ratio, temperature, duration and rinsing method. |
| Product resistance | Suitability of the hose, seal and connection for the cycle. |
| Acceptance | The facility's residue/hygiene verification and recording method. |
How is it assessed in practice?
For each hose, link the permitted product family and cleaning cycle. For example, if shared use is planned between a food containing allergens and another product, the record should not be closed on the assumption of rinsing with water alone. The acceptance method must be determined by the facility's quality system. Also define how clean, dirty, incompletely cleaned and dedicated assemblies will be separated in the warehouse. The cleaning result and the product's mechanical inspection result can be kept as separate records. Do not reuse the line before the compatibility of the washing fluid with the hose, seal and the next product to be conveyed is verified.

Frequently asked questions
If the hose does not smell, can it be used for another product?
Absence of odor alone is not sufficient. Suitability for use, the cleaning procedure and, if necessary, residue verification must be assessed together.
