Hose Terms from A to Z
Hoses play a critical role in many areas, from industrial plants to the automotive sector, from agriculture to domestic use. However, not all hoses are produced for the same purpose; there are many types of hoses made of different materials and resistant to different pressures and temperatures.
A - Abrasion Resistance
Resistance of hoses to friction, impact and external influences. High abrasion resistance is important for a long service life, especially in harsh working environments.
B - Compressive Strength
It refers to the resistance of the hose against the pressure created by the liquid or gas passing through it. In high pressure systems, it is vital to select hoses with appropriate pressure resistance.
C - Steel Mesh Reinforcement
Making the hose resistant to higher pressure and mechanical stress by adding layers of metal braid inside or outside the hose.
D - Threaded Connection
Threaded end pieces for connecting hoses to valves, pumps or equipment.
E - Flexibility
Hose resistance to kinking and movement. Flexible hoses offer the advantage of ease of installation and use in tight spaces.
F - Flanged Connection
It is one of the methods used for large diameter hoses and provides a secure, leak-proof connection.
G - Food Compliant Hose
Special type of hose used in the food and beverage industry, made of materials suitable for human health.
H - Hydraulic Hose
Hoses operating under high pressure in hydraulic systems. Provides safe transportation of oil, water and other hydraulic fluids.
I - Interior Coating
Special material that covers the inner surface of the hose and must be compatible with the liquid or gas it carries.
J - Generator Fuel Hose
Special type of hose for safe and efficient transportation of fuel in generators.
K - Rubber Hose
Type of hose with high flexibility, abrasion and temperature resistance. Generally used in water, air and chemical transfers.
L - Layflat Hose
A type of hose that can be stored flat when not in use and is widely preferred in water drainage and irrigation systems.
M - Sleeve
Fitting that reinforces the end of the hose and strengthens the connection.
N - Nitrile Rubber
Material resistant to oils, fuels and chemicals, especially widely used in industrial hose production.
O - Ozone Resistance
Resistance of the hose against sunlight, ozone and weather conditions. It is important for long life in outdoor applications.
P - Polyurethane Hose
A type of hose characterized by its high abrasion resistance and lightweight structure, generally used in pneumatic systems.
R - Radiator Hose
Heat resistant hose for transporting coolant in vehicle engines.
S - Silicone Hose
High temperature resistant, flexible and long life hose type. Widely used in automotive, medical and food industries.
T - T-Bolt Clamp
A type of clamp used for high pressure hose connections, providing extra rigidity.
U - UV Resistance
Characteristic that determines whether the hose is resistant to sunlight and outdoor conditions.
V - Vacuum Hose
Type of hose used for air or gas transfer in low pressure systems.
Y - Fuel Hose
Type of hose that safely transports fuels such as gasoline, diesel and LPG.
Z - Armored Hose
Metal-coated hose type, reinforced against external impacts and excessive pressure.
